The Bosch 26618-01 is a powerhouse; it is not much bigger then a regular Bosch 18V Impactor, but it gives you much more versatility. I used the tool side by side with my Friends regular Bosch 18V Impactor and I did not notice any difference in how they performed. Even though it is a tool that is meant to replace two tools, you don't really feel like you are missing out on anything – other then a drill chuck. That being said, the tool is a little lackluster in the torque area while in drilling mode. It preformed fine with all standard drill bits used, but it had some trouble with a 1” Bosch Daredevil bit. Once switched back to Impact mode, the 26618-01 had no problems with the DareDevil bits. The tool offers a full 1,500 in-lbs. of torque in Impact mode at 0 – 2,800 RPM, and two speeds in Drilling mode, 0 – 750 & 0 – 2,800 RPM. Switching between each mode is relatively simple, except I did notice it was a little harder to switch between drill speed 2 and impact at some times. This is not a huge deal, it is just not as smooth as switching between drilling speed 1 & 2. Anyone that’s followed this site for any length of time knows that we use quite a few Bosch Tools and think they make some of the best quality tools on the market today.
The new Bosch Impact Drill/Driver is exciting because it’s really three tools in one. Impact drivers have become a must have tool today but the 26618-01 comes ready to perform normal drilling operations in two different drill modes. The ability to have all these features in one tool makes this a very versatile product. The 26618-01 leads the pact of 18V impact drivers with 1500 in-lbs of torque. That’s quite impressive when you consider the last impact driver we tested had the same torque with a higher voltage battery system. With all the engineered lumber being used to frame buildings today an impact driver with power is essential. To test this impact driver we used several fasteners that are found on many of our job sites. We tested the 26618-01 with 3-1/2 inch long deck screws and 3 inch long, 3/8 inch lag bolts. All of the fasteners were installed into TimberStrand engineered lumber. With the 1,500 in-lb torque we weren’t at all surprised that this impact driver was able to quickly and easily sink the fasteners completely into the engineered lumber. The Bosch 18V Impact Drill/Driver is a top quality tool that met and exceed all of our expectations for a good impact driver. Considering this tool also works as a great drill in addition to the impact features makes it a top pick for us. Retailing under $400 at authorized Bosch retailers we think it’s a great price point for a tool that does what three tools would normally do.

The Bosch 36618-02 18volt 1/2-Inch cordless drill is built to fit your hand for safe comfortable control. The new angled ergonomic design is compact enough to work in tight spaces and makes it easy to apply the correct pressure as you drill or drive fasteners without straining your wrist. The angle also helps to work between studs or in small spaces where a square handled tool would not fit. “Toe-nailing” screws and access to tight corners is easy, and the grip provides good control with the newly designed handle with finger supports. Now there is no need to use a flashlight to get the screw centered exactly where you want it. I have used them as my only light source for small jobs in dark closets and in buildings without power. It’s not really a substitute for a flashlight, but it often provides enough light to get the job done. Very handy. Bosch 36618-02 works at speeds up to 1,600 RPM and produce 500 in./lbs. of torque. Working at high speed and producing high torque, it’s really a power tool in a compact tool’s body. Bosch 36618-02 can be extremely useful when doing different types of projects. You can use this for a multitude of drilling and fastening jobs, whether you just building a deck or installing cabinets, hanging curtains or any DIY projects, Bosch 36618-02 will be your perfect tool. 20 clutch settings and a variable-speed trigger help you match the best speed to the job, so you can achieve precise results. Bosch 36618-02 is amazingly lightweight and very compact drill that won’t putting excessive strain on wrists and hands, which helps boost your productivity. Weighing in just 3.7 lbs with a compact size at 8 inches long, this cordless drill is the first choice when come to work on tight space. If you’re looking for a lighter-weight option, the Slim Pack is the perfect choice. If longer runtime is what you need, the Fat Pack will do the job. Bosch is the only power tool manufacturer that provides this option. With this option, I can opted to buy drill configured with Slim Pack battery now, and later on buy additional Fat Pack battery, if need longer runtime. Durashield housing, unibody construction, and a steel-reinforced collar help you withstand real-world conditions, like temperature extremes, rain, dirt, debris, and drops.
Durashield Housing is constructed with ABS/Nylon composite, which makes the housing flexible and impenetrable. Unlike conventional plastic housing, Durashield will not crack and can easily withstand 10-foot drops.
Bosch 36618-02 also features unique unibody construction with three steel straps that keep the motor, gears, and clutch together. This ensures that the gears never separate from the motor, and it keeps the drill functioning even after drops.
Additionally, this model boasts an exclusive steel-reinforced collar that protects the nose of the drill. It provides extra reinforcement in the event of drops on the chuck and prevents the chuck from bending or breaking off.
